"Empowering and inspiring all children to become life-long learners"

We are proud to work with all the Catholic schools across our two local authority areas, particularly as the Trust grows and benefits from the expertise and knowledge that other schools joining in the future will bring.

Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life.

Catholic Social Teaching

What would Jesus do?

With Christ in our hearts and minds, we try to live every day how Jesus wanted us to.

Catholic Social Teaching is based on the belief that God has a plan for creation, a plan to build his kingdom of peace, love and justice here on earth.

It holds that God has a special plan for every single one of us, whoever we are. Our part in this plan involves every aspect of our lives, from the things we pray about, to how we live as a responsible global citizen.

Our part in this story is a call to treat everyone as our brothers and sisters.  It is something that we all share.

At St Patrick's, Catholic Social Teaching is incorporated into our curriculum and we consider opportunities to highlight CST within topics.  Each year group also champions a particular teaching so the children have the opportunity to develop a deeper knowledge of them as they grow.

Participation:
God made every person and we all have the right to join in and take part.
Peacemakers:
God made us to live in families and communities, so we try to live alongside each other peacefully.
Year 1 taught us how to be a good friend during anti-bullying week, helped create a poppy display in November and are planning on sending Peace cards to care homes in December
Dignity of the Human Person:
Every single person is special and important because they are made in God's image, so everyone deserves to be treated with respect.
Care for Creation / Stewardship:
The world is a gift from God, so we need to be good caretakers and protect the environment for everyone to enjoy in the future.
Year 3 have arranged a litter pick around the local area and are planning an animal dress up fundraising event.  They also helped clear leaves from our playground!
Solidarity:
We are all one human family, so we should support and be kind to our brothers and sisters all over the world.
Year 4 will be creating solidarity chains and have asked others to support the Holy Redeemer Parish Christmas Fair
Care for the Poor and Vulnerable:
We should pay special attention to helping and supporting those who are poor or have less, and treat them with extra kindness and care.
Year 5 asked us to donate food to a local food bank.
Rights and Responsibilities:
Everyone has the right to a good life and needs to be safe and healthy, and we all have a duty to help make that happen for others.
Year 6 highlighted the importance of justice for all and taught us about inspirational figures during Black History Month.

Staff Formation - We Continue to Learn

On our Inset day, teachers spent time thinking about how to represent a CST on a decorated biscuit.  We then thought about how we could make CST visible in our classrooms and curriculum too.  It is important to us at St Patrick's that everyone can learn in engaging ways.
